Winner of the 2020 bowling prize: Robert Pollock-Hill.   Robert took more wickets than anyone else this year.  He bowled a total of 33 overs this year and took 8 wickets at an average of 19, with a best of 6-69 – not forgetting a very skilful but wicketless spell against the John Paul Getty XI.  Of note this is the tenth time that Robert has won the club bowling prize – truly wonderful stuff!

Winner of the 2020 fielding prize: Matt Shales.   This prize is awarded for the first time this year, in memory of Lawrence Fernandes (1943-2019;  Straggler from 1995).  Matt tied on 2 catches/dismissals with three other Stragglers, but on a committee vote Matt’s spectacular catch against Sunbury CC was agreed to be a suitable tie-breaker.  (Nothing to do with that catch being off the chairman’s “bowling” of course!)

Winner of the 2020 batting prize: Jonny McDuell.  Jonny scored more runs than anyone else this year.  In 5 innings he scored a total of 180 runs, including two fifties and with a highest score of 81, at an average of 36 – and in very positive, attractive, impressive style too.

Winner of the 2020 Hugh Lindsay Trophy: also Jonny McDuell.   This prize is for our young cricketer of the year.  Jonny played 5 matches; took one catch; bowled more overs than anyone but Robert, and took 3 wickets; and of course was our club batting prize winner.

Congratulations and ‘well played’ all, for your inspiring, entertaining and most Corinthian cricket!

With all the best for even more and even better in 2021!
