Stragglers of Asia Cricket Club

The Stragglers of Asia was founded in 1925, by a group of expats and Army officers living in India looking to play cricket in the UK when home on leave. Originally, members were required to have lived 'East of Suez' for two years to be eligible to join. However, membership today is open to those looking to play friendly but competitive cricket in the right 'Corinthian' spirit, as demonstrated by our forebears.

The Stragglers try to arrange a major out of season tour abroad roughly every three years with minor tours within Europe in most intervening years. more...

2011 President’s Message

Posted on 27 November 2011

I want to start with behind the scenes. The mainstays of our Club are Tim Lerwill and his Committee, who will be steering us through another Summer of cricket. I am delighted that Tim has just embarked on his second three years as Chairman and his great enthusiasm to the Club, both on and off the field, not least in discovering and nurturing young players, is evident for all to see.

2011 Chairman’s Report

Posted on 7 March 2011

I welcome you all to the 2011 Annual General Meeting in that holy of holies – the MCC Committee Room by kind permission of the MCC Secretary. And at what a time we meet: England have not only retained the Ashes but are on the brink of humiliating Australia in the process of a third innings victory and series win. It augurs well for the 2011 season and I am delighted to record that Stragglers’ planning is well advanced.
