Report: The Stragglers went into this game at the idyllic Otterden Place with only 9 men, including identical twins. Having lost the toss we were soon reduced to 26-4. A good partnership of 65 between Penisse (G) and Charles Lamprecht put us back on track. Penisse departed for 43 and Lamprecht was joined by Pottgeiter (G). Lamprecht completed his 50 off 48 balls and went on to make a belligerent 82. Pottgeiter bludgeoned his way to 50 off 30 balls before departing for 75. Hopper (G) then came in and smashed 58 no. off 18 balls. The Stragglers declared on 276-7.

Despite some good bowling from Hopper (56-2) and Alderton (59-1) The Band of Brothers got off to a good start. Wickets then began to fall regularly thanks to Charles Lamprecht (30-6) and at tea the Stragglers were in a strong position. Then however the game seemed to have gone thanks to some extraordinary hitting from Higgs, and the Band of Brothers were left requiring 12 off 5 overs with 3 wickets left. Again the stage was set for Lamprecht and with 9 balls remaining he took the final wicket with the Band of Brothers still requiring 3 runs.

It was a truly remarkable victory in a game played in great spirits at a beautifully quaint ground in the grounds of Kentish country house.
