KKCC Golf Day – Monday 5th August
On Monday 5th August at Cottesmore Golf & Country Club, Crawley, West Sussex, two teams of four Stragglers joined six other teams for the Team Competition of the Kenya Kongonis Cricket Club annual golf day.
The Stragglers teams were the Patiala Pluggers, comprising Billy King-Harman, Peter Marno, Janak Patel and Peter Allcock (a KK guest); and the Chail Chancers, comprising Ramesh Sethi, Jamie Bebb, Harry Patel (a guest of Ramesh), and Eyre Maunsell. The format was best 3 of 4 Stableford scores to count on each hole, with the golf played on the Griffin course, which proved suitably challenging – up and down and with strong gusts of wind – but the fairways were good and the greens first class. Having performed commendably the Stragglers washed down the prize giving with a thirst-quenching alfresco beer or two, before dispersing and heading off home.
With thanks to Eyre Maunsell and Billy King-Harman for the words, and Eyre and others for organising the Stragglers’ part of this most enjoyable day. All who took part are already looking forward to meeting up and playing again next year for “Chance to Shine” and for the “KKs”.
