Result: Stragglers of Asia lost by 9 wickets

Report: The Stragglers had a strong side that batted deep and didn’t hesitate to elect to bat upon winning the toss. This victory at the start of the day would prove to be the highlight from a Stragglers perspective…

It was a strange innings, with a retirement for injury after one ball rather setting the tone for a batting collapse of the highest order. A combination of a couple of first class deliveries from their opening bowlers, sharp catching and abject shot selection meant that the Stragglers never got going in this innings and were bowled out for a meagre 77 shortly after lunch. Will Russell deserves a mention for sticking in and contributing around half the teams total.

The bowlers worked hard and bowled well but it was of little consequence as the Nomads made fairly light work of reaching the required total after 17 overs for the loss of one wicket.

Thanks to all those that made themselves available. This was just ‘one of those days’. One to erase from the memory and I look forward to reversing the result next year…
